Capel Vale - Free bottle of "Debut" range wine with Lunch for Inn the Tuarts Guests!

Just a little over 10 minutes drive up the scenic Tuart Tourist Drive, or a little more relaxed via Forest Beach Rd

Capel Vale Restaurant awarded best in South-West!

Capel Vale is flying high after winning the ‘Judges Grand Commendation Trophy’, the highest award for restaurants from Mandurah to Albany, at the recent Restaurant & Catering Association of WA’s Awards for Excellence.

Not only did Capel Vale surpass many renowned restaurants in the food and wine mecca of the Margaret River region and down to the beautiful port of Albany in the people’s choice award, but Capel Vale also took home the honours for ‘Best Restaurant in a Winery’ and ‘Maitre’d of the Year’.

14/9 Update: Suzanne and I enjoyed another sensational lunch at CV today. Not only is the food, wine, dessert ,coffee and the venue and service, just brilliant, but the price is surprisingly reasonable for such a quality establishment. Mains are all under $40, or you can do what we did and add a few extras to the taste plate, which is a journey in itself, for $18pp (plus extras) If you are an ITT guest CV offer you a free bottle of their Debut series wine with lunch too. If you want to call in on the way here, or home, and won't have your key tag with you, have us book you a table by the window. This restaurant and winery deserves the rich praise our guests consistently heap on it - don't miss it, and its only 10 mins away.

Here's a couple of ideas for the gourmet on a budget:

Cena Pizza at 59 Queen St. In this day of franchised fast food, every Cena Pizza is hand made from fresh ingredients. How about a "Duck and Honey" or a spicy "Firehorse"? For those who don't eat pizza there's also a spare ribs and a chicken dish on the menu. You can dine in from 5.00 daily ex Monday, and BYO fave bottle of local wine, too. See the current menu at www.cenapizza.com.au

Mealup Cafe in the Bay View Centro, Dunsborough only 20 mins away. (We eat here often). These guys are passionate foodies but keep their prices well within reach. Lovely people, top food and excellent organic coffee, too! Check their web at www.mealup.com.au/

Peko Peko Japanese Sushi and Noodles in the old Dun Bay Cottage building in Dunsborough. Open for take-away lunches and dine in dinners daily. Prices from around $16.00 - who said the SW is all too expensive? details at: www.pekopeko.com.au/

Jewell in the Park. Great little Indian (if a little noisy - we love to grab a takeaway and eat it back here in the serenity) right in the middle of Queen St. Food is tasty and authentic - right down to the Turban-wearing Sikh manager from Amritsar.  No website so phone: 08 9754 2850

Further Afield:

Bunkers Cafe at Bunker Bay

Sitting in this great little Multiple Gold Plate award winning eatery, enjoying its sensational food, with a view of one of the best beaches in WA, you can't help thinking: "I would be happy if I'd spent 24 hours in a plane and paid a fortune to be here. It just doesn't get better than this!"

Mar 2011 - Update on Bunkers Cafe: Suzanne and and recently enjoyed another sensational lunch at Bunkers cafe. She had the local Whiting, whilst I had the shepherd's pie with turnip mash top, and Cos leaf salad. Whilst we ate, a pod of about a dozen dolphins gambolled around the bay for an hour or so. So I think I'll have to say it again...."It just doesn't get better than this!!"

See their website at: www.bunkersbeachcafe.com.au/  for more details.

Cullen Wines

We recently had lunch at this iconic Margaret River winery, and affirm that it definitely lives up to its great reputation:  "In April 2009 the Cullen Wines Restaurant was reviewed in The Weekend Australian Magazine as being a top winery restaurant that defines Australian dining today." Their biodynamic wines are superb, too.  See their website for more, at: www.cullenwines.com.au/restaurant.htm

Hay Shed Hill

Hay Shed Hill is a classic old vineyard in the heart of the Willyabrup Valley – the premier sub region of Margaret River where the region’s first vines were planted and the great tradition of Margaret River wine began. Suzanne and I enjoyed a sensational lunch here recently, in the interest of our clients of course! We loved the charcouterie and the cheese selections. Catch up with them at:

Rickety Gate Winery and Cafe  Denmark

Heading further south? Superb Cool Climate wines available to taste alongside scrumptious gourmet platters in the newly-built cafe overlooking the winery, tall Karri trees to Mt Lindsay beyond. On Scotsdale Rd Tourist Drive. Open Fri - Mon.

March 2011 Update: We will be spending a couple of days at RGW to check out the latest wines and newly appointed chef - let you know...
